Nikau

Nikau tree.
The Nikau tree is a native tree to New Zealand. It can't grow in the tropics. The Nikau tree is a palm tree. The Nikau tree likes to live in cold condition. The bulb in the middle of the Nikau tree is rare. You have to cut down the tree to get the bulb. The Maori people use the fronds of the tree to make baskets and clothes and also for shelter and they use it for cooking food and collecting water. The Nikau tree is very special to New Zealand and to the Maori people.
